Privacy

Boating Coach is free. It has no ads, no fee, no sign-in, no account and no analytics. We do not know who you are.

Your progress

The app saves your answers and your practice exams in this browser. It uses the browser storage called localStorage, under the name boating:progress for Canada and boating:us:progress for the United States. The app never sends this data to a server. Other people on other devices cannot see it.

If you clear the data of this site in your browser, your progress is gone. If your browser blocks storage, the app still works, but it forgets your progress when you close the tab.

Error reports

If the page breaks, the app can send a short error report to its own server. The report has the error text, the kind of page, the kind of browser and the version of the app. It has no account, no IP address and no answers.

Fonts and other sites

The app serves its own fonts. It loads nothing from other sites. Links to Transport Canada or to the eCFR open the site of that service. That site has its own rules.

Not official

This app is not made by or endorsed by Transport Canada, the US Coast Guard, NASBLA or any state. It is not an official test and not an official version of any guide or law.
